Rift Guide

Are you looking for a good Rift Guide? Well, your search ends here! Welcome to top and best Rift Guide out there. I started playing Rift in early Jan, 2011. I would be honest, I found Rift so difficult in initial days, that I decided to quit play it. I understand how Rift is different compared to other MMORPG games out there. I have put up this Rift Guide to help new comers and beginners to get easy access to in-depth Rift guides, quest walk-throughs, skill builds and lots more.

Rift Guide - Character Creation

Rift Factions Guide

You begin by choosing one of the two primary factions – The Guardians or The Defiant. There are three races in each of these factions, so choosing a faction will limit you to those specific races. Depending on which faction you pick, you will be placed in a starting area. Note that picking a faction doesn’t limit your choice of souls (or classes) as they are available to all the races.

Tip: Depending on what faction you pick, you are limited to have any kind of contact only to that particular faction. So if you have a group of friends starting together, you all might want to consider picking up the same faction.

Rift Guide on Races

As I said, there are six races in Rift, three in each faction. There isn’t anything like which is the best or which is not. It’s a matter of personal choice and doesn’t influence your future game play in anyways.

The Guardians

  • Dwarves
  • High Elves
  • Mathosian

The Defiant

  • Bahmi
  • Eth
  • Kelari

Rift Calling Guide

After choosing a Race, it’s time to choose your Calling which is deciding the type of character you like to play. If you have played MMO game before, this step is the one you were looking for all the time.  There are four callings so far: Warrior, Cleric, Mage and Rogue.

Each of these Callings has eight souls that you can choose from. This gives you a total of thirty-two souls! Isn’t that huge?! Unlike other MMO’s Rift gives you options to create a variety of characters that you won’t find in a traditional MMO. For example, you could have a Rogue that can tank, or a Mage that can heal. Possibilities are endless, you can create and test out so many different builds.

Alright, now let’s look the guide that we have for each of the four callings. For each calling we have four guides – Souls, Builds, Leveling and Stats.
