Realm of the Fae Guide

In these series of guides we’ll be discussing all of the instances available in Rift, in this article we will talk about the Rift Realm of the Fae instance. Instances in rift are great ways to level and acquire lower level gear that is actually quite powerful. However it is important you do not go into an instance and not know what you’re doing as in most cases you will die or cause a wipe.

In these guides we will discuss the instance very briefly and then discuss each of the bosses and their abilities.

Rift Realm of the Fae overview

This instance is located in northern Silverwood, the recommended level is 17-19, there is a quest available immediately inside of the instance, and the main types of enemies you will fight are treants, satyrs, and faeries.

In Rift Realm of the Fae you will be going through the four seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. It’s a decent sized instance with a very large amount of trash mobs, however, it’s important to note that you don’t need to kill them all and a lot of them can be easily avoided.

Depending on your group’s composition and skill you may or may not need to crowd control pulls, typically you don’t, but remember the option is always there.

Rift Realm of the Fae Boss #1 – Trickster Maelow

This is a pretty simple fight, Trickster Maelow has two “Lifewards” which you need to kill before you’ll be able to focus him down. Simply tank him, DPS focus down the Lifewards, and then switch to Trickster. If your tank or healer is having troubles, try focusing down Lifeward Celoah first.

Trickster Maelow has an ability called Cottontail which will polymorph a random target into a rabbit, make sure this is dispelled immediately before the fight becomes to long and healers run out mana and tanks die.

Rift Realm of the Fae Boss #2 – Luggodham

Don’t be intimidated by his size, he is actually a very easy boss to kill. Simply tank him, heal the tank, and dps the boss down. There is only one thing to watch out for and that is Luggodhan’s Slime, which is an AoE that he spawns on the ground that will slow and damage players that stand in it. Simply move out of these as fast as possible and continue DPSing.

Rift Realm of the Fae Boss #3 – Battlemaster Atrophinius

This boss can be a little difficult, he has two adds that can be extremely annoying, as well as a cleave (so don’t stand next to the tank) and a knockback charge which he will use on random targets. It’s important that the tank positions himself to a spot where if he is knocked back he will fall into an object nearby.

Simply keep everyone healed and focus the boss down fast, the adds will despawn if you kill the boss so you can either ignore them or kill them first depending on which aspect of the fight you’re having trouble with.

Rift Realm of the Fae Boss #4 – Fae Lord Twyl

This is the fourth and final boss of the instance, first he will spawn three avatars (avatar of autumn, summer, and spring) one at a time, simply dps these down and move on. After defeating them you will fight Fae Lord Twyl, he has an ability that will freeze you and you will be rooted.

There is also a small green light called Fae Tempest that moves around the area in random motions and will damage players if they stand in it, if a player is frozen with the Tempest on them make sure you heal that player fast.

Other than that, simply dps the boss down and reap the rewards and you will have completed Realm of the Fae.
