However it is important you do not go into an instance and not know what you’re doing as in most cases you will die or cause a wipe.

Rift Iron Tombs

In these guides we will discuss the instance very briefly and then discuss each of the bosses and their abilities.

Rift Iron Tombs Overview

This instance is a really cool starter instance, it is located in Freemarch, which is also the starting zone for the Defiant. Recommended level for this instance is 19, although you may be able to complete it as low as 17 with a skilled group. One great aspect of this particular instance is that there are five quests that are all available inside.

Iron tombs consists of three bosses, and a heavy amount of trash mobs, if your group has a high amount of AoE damage your trip through rift Iron Tombs should be short and profitable. The navigation is straight forward, follow one path, so you won’t need to worry about getting lost.

Rift Iron Tombs Boss #1 – Caor Ashstone

This is the first boss you will encounter in the rift Iron Tombs instance. Ashstone is very easy boss, and is mainly a DPS race and a test of healers skill. The tank will receive a very fast ticking damage over time spell named Ashstone’s Curse, this effect doesn’t do a whole lot of damage however.

His other feature is that he will put an effect named Jagged Wounds on the tank as well. This will stack the longer the fight ensues and if it stacks enough it will inevitably kill the tank, therefore high DPS is crucial to defeating this boss.

Rift Iron Tombs Boss #2 – The Three Kings

This encounter is a bit more challenging then Caor Ashstone, however it isn’t quite as much as a DPS/Heal race. The Three Kings consist of Derribec the Magus, Humbart the Bold, and Laric the Ascendant, and each one of these three kings has an ability you’ll need to watch out for. Keep in mind you will only be engaging one King at a time.

Humbart the Bold – The first King is Humbart, who has a cleave so be sure nobody is standing by the tank, also he has a knockback ability to watch out for, so make sure you tank him with your back against something.

Derribec the Magus – After killing Humbart, Laric will spawn, his ability is a large damage blast on a party member, just watch out for this and heal the person up quickly and you’ll be fine.

Laric the Ascendant – Finally after killing the firs two kings, the final one, Laric, will spawn. He has a heal called Unholy Mending which you will need to interrupt to keep from prolonging the fight.

Rift Iron Tombs Boss #3 – Ragnoth the Despoiler

This is one of the coolest looking bosses in the game, and he is actually quite difficult for such a low level instance. He has three different abilities you have to watch out for, the first is Gout of Flame which is a single-target semi-strong spell, second is Chaotic Flame, which sends out a flame in a frontal cone, and finally Flame of Ragnoth.

Flame of Ragnoth needs to be avoided at all costs, it is an AoE that will put a high damage DoT on everyone and you will not be able to heal through it.

The strategy here is to have the tank run it and tank him facing away from the party to avoid the Chaotic Flame, when he casts Flame of Ragnoth Eliam’s Ghost will appear and show some light, simply run into the light to avoid this.
