There are eight different Rift Rogue Souls to choose from, so it is important to know what each of your souls does so you’re able to swap them in and out from time to time depending on your current situation. In this guide I will be explaining all of the rift rogue souls for the class to help you create the best build for your playstyle. Please remember to take a loot at our recommended builds for your class under the Rift Builds Guide category.
Let’s look at Rift Rogue Souls one by one
Assassin
The first of the eight Rift Rogue Souls we will talk about is the Assassin soul. This soul is very nice as it has the ability to walk in the shadows and stealth past various things that you do not want to engage in combat. This makes them very strong if they choose their opponents wisely and are aware of all their surroundings, but if the Assassin Rogue is caught out of stealth they’re in a lot of trouble fighting without that great stealthed opener. This makes them great for solo leveling/questing as well as DPS in instances and raids, they can also be dominant in PvP but are quite difficult to master. They have several Crit damage and % increases in the tree as well as straight damage increases.
Bard
This is one of the coolest rift rogue souls, but they aren’t really going to deal a whole lot of damage or do a whole lot of healing. Most of the Bard’s abilities deal with buffing allies, having some small but constant healing going on, or reducing damage that enemies deal. The Bard is definitely a support class for your group so I would not advise at all that you try and play solo or level as a Bard as there are way better options for rift rogue souls.
Blade Dancer
This is one of the more bursty damage dealers of the rift rogue souls. They have a lot of abilities that increase dodge, hit chance, dexterity, damage, and pretty much a mix of all the abilities a rogue needs, they’re able to unleash a lot of damage but then are required to wait a while before doing much more which requires them to rely on defensive instincts to survive when soloing. Overall they’re probably the best for soloing and leveling, and could compete to be the best for grouping as well.
Marksman
One of the most fun and highest damage dealing rift rogue souls is the Marskman which using ranged attacks as well as various “hit-and-run” abilities. Something like running up and removing an enemies weapons and then running further back and dealing damage from a distance while their foes are unable to do much but sit back and take it. They are really fun in PvP as well as really good in PvP at that. They also do some great PvE single-target as well as AoE damage so you should definitely consider using Marskman as your main soul in any situation.
Nightblade
Nightblade is currently one of the weaker Rift Rogue Souls, it does possess a lot of potential however. Most of Nightblade’s talents are used to increase the damage and critical strike rating of it’s abilities, it’s a decent damage soul but still won’t match up to that of Bladedancer or Marskman to be one of the top rift rogue souls.
Ranger
As you may have guess Ranger is another one of the ranged damage rift rogue souls. This soul however has access to a pet which makes it very nice for leveling as well as raiding/instances with the ongoing bonus damage the pet will bring. The Ranger’s talents do a lot for increase damage as well as crit strike. They do have a few survivability talents as well such as dodge increase and health increase. The ranger is one of the most solid rift rogue souls and can be a lot of fun if you enjoy pet control.
Riftstalker
As far as tanking goes the Riftstalker is the only tanking soul of the eight rift rogue souls. It doesn’t quite compare with the warrior tanking souls so if you really want to tank I would strongly suggest going warrior, but it does rank a bit higher then the Cleric’s Justicar. The Riftstalker is a very mobile soul and uses shielding abilities as well as a lot of armor and health increasing talents. There is also a couple talents that will increase healing done to you making this a a decent tanking rift rogue souls.
Saboteur
The final of the eight rift rogue souls we will look into is the Saboteur. This is actually a pretty fun and cool soul to play as it uses explosives and things like that to slow and CC opponents. It makes for a really good PvP off-soul or you could spec it as your main if you want to be a big nuisance in PvP to your enemies while greatly benefiting your allies as a very nice support CC root/snare character. Some talents in the tree also lower duration of CC effects on you making you even more annoying to enemy players as you can break their CC and then run up and CC them in return. Overall a very fun and very useful PvP soul but definitely not a PvE or soloing soul as the other rift rogue souls greatly outdamage this one.
