Rift Warrior Souls Guide

There are eight different Rift Warrior Souls to choose from, so it is important to know what each of your souls does so you’re able to swap them in and out from time to time depending on your current situation. In this guide I will be explaining all of the rift warrior souls for the class to help you create the best build for your playstyle. Please remember to take a loot at our recommended builds for your class under the Rift Builds Guide category.

Alright, let’s have a look at Rift Warrior Souls

Beastmaster

Of the eight different Rift Warrior Souls we’ll start with Beastmaster. This is a really great soul for any warrior, it gives you access to summoning a pet which always gives you a lot of help when leveling or adding DPS during instances. However, it is not recommended that you play Beastmaster as your main soul. With that being said it is a really great third off-soul for any situation. With the immediate access to getting a pet it allows you to make great use of the soul without even putting points into it, however, when you do end up putting 10 points into it you’ll unlock protective companion which is a great defensive buff for your group.

Champion

The Champion soul is one of the more fun rift warrior souls for leveling and questing because you are given access to Raging Bull which is essentially a charge. If you are going to take the path of a single target DPS warrior you will want to have Champion as at least your third off-soul as by just putting 4 points into it you’re able to get 5% more damage which is a great boost. Champion deals a ton of damage in spikes, when you dodge an attack you have a talent that deals 100% crit damage.

Paragon

If you’re looking for the most raw damage then Paragon is definitely one of the rift warrior souls you will want to consider. Paragon is able to deal tons of damage from ranged attacks and makes for a great leveling spec. However, the downside is that you will be lacking mobility that other classes and souls have. With that being said Paragon definitely is not a very viable PvP soul, but is really good for PvE. Possibly pairing this with Riftblade for Riftwalk and Champion for Raging Bull will help you out more.

Riftblade

I talked about Riftblade’s Riftwalk so now we’ll get into that soul. This is one of the more unusual rift warrior souls as it deals a lot of magic damage, which is something you wouldn’t really expect from a warrior. There’s a lot of good about the Riftblade soul, a lot of it’s abilities really compliment other rift warrior souls as well as other classes souls. Also, a ton of it’s damage ignores armor which makes it deal a lot more damage than other souls. This makes riftblade a great choice for your main soul, 2nd soul, or even third soul.

Reaver

Okay, now we’ll start getting into the three rift warrior souls used for tanking. The first of these we’ll discuss is Reaver, which is typically referred to as the AoE tanking soul. It focuses a lot on dots which makes this a really great trash tank and will help you get through trash a lot quicker. The cool thing about rift is that you have 4 different roles so you can use this as your main soul for trash and then switch roles to a more single target oriented tanking soul at bosses. The problem with using Reaver for boss tanking is that it is the worst of the three tanking rift warrior souls as far as damage mitigation goes.

Paladin

The next of the tanking rift warrior soul we’ll talk about is Paladin. Like I said earlier you’ll want to be switching up roles when going from trash packs to bosses, and when you switch out of Reaver you will want to switch into Paladin. This soul provides the best damage mitigation and threat production of any of the three tanking rift warrrior souls. This is definitely going to be the “main” tanking soul for warriors at level 50 so if you plan on tanking endgame it would be good to get used to this.

Void Knight

If you want to be the absolute best and most versatile tank, you’re going to want three roles with Void Knight, Paladin, and Reaver as your main rift warrior souls. The reason you need Void Knight instead of just one for AoE and one for single target is because Void Knight focuses a lot on tanking magic oriented damage where other tanking rift warrior souls do not. It’s in the middle of the other two tanking rift warrior souls as far as damage mitigation goes which is why you’ll only want to use it for magic based enemies.

Warlord

The last of the eight rift warrior souls we’ll look at is Warlord, which is a pretty simple soul. It focuses mainly on buffs for party and raid members. This soul is going to be mainly irrelevant in lower levels but could definitely make a big impact in end game raiding.
